Warning! This book is not for the faint of heart. If the mention of pus, beheading, or swollen toes makes you queasy, keep moving buddy. If not, you’re in for an interesting (and sometimes disgusting) treat. This book tells you how many of the world’s most famous bit the dust. Each chapter covers one person’s last days, and finishes with a few interesting facts. This would be a great read for any child who’s interested in the macabre or a history buff. The title also includes an extensive list of further reading and internet resources for each person. If you’d like to know the gruesome details of Marie Antoinette (beheading!), Julius Caesar (murder!), or George Washington’s (infection!) death, this is the book for you! Read it and appreciate the invention of antibiotics.

  1. This book sounds fun, and perfect for the Halloween season. I’m reading a youth book now about the witches of Salem for my next post. 🙂 I love when books include nice, well-rounded lists of books for further reading and other resources. It just makes it so easy extend the interest that a kid may show in a particular subject.
